What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition takes a natural approach to health and helps make dietary changes practical. Holistic nutrition looks at your complete health history, emotional state, lifestyle habits and current diet to assess the root cause of any health issues and make recommendations to address them.

As a Holistic Nutritionist my goal is to empower and educate my clients into improving their health with the use of nutrient dense foods, natural supplementation and lifestyle recommendations. I'll assist you in making dietary changes at a pace that's comfortable for you. My job is to give you the tools that you need to be successful and this looks different for everyone. Tools and testing may include meal plans, mindful eating strategies, food sensitivity testing, nutrigenomic testing (how your DNA affects your ideal nutrition), nutrient testing (iron, vitamin D, etc.), weigh ins, body fat %, or macronutrient & calorie tracking if desired.

What’s the difference between a Dietician and Holistic Nutritionist?

A dietician typically helps patients follow the guidelines in the Canada’s Food Guide and makes recommendations based on calorie requirements and recommended daily allowances. Dieticians are government regulated and can usually be found working out of government institutions such as hospitals.

A Holistic Nutritionist recognizes that there is no one size fits all diet and assists their clients in discovering a way of eating that best supports their goals while recognizing their unique preferences. Many people don’t feel optimally while following recommendations such as 3 cups of milk and 8 servings of grains per day. A Holistic Nutritionist will help you find the diet that leaves you feeling your best without while also helping to prevent any nutritional deficiencies or imbalances.
