What I'm giving, recommending and asking Santa for this Christmas!

DIY & Body Love

Coffee Body Scrub

Homemade Coffee Body Scrub

Two years ago I made this for everyone! It was so simple and it leaves your skin feeling soooo soft.

Recipe

1 Cup Ground Coffee

1 Cup Sugar

1/2 Cup Coconut Oil

1/2 Tablespoon Cinnamon (optional)

1 Tablespoon Vanilla Extract (optional)

Lavender Spray

Lavender Sleep Spray

I have a sleep spray with essential oils I use on my pillow & sheets and lavender is amazing for sleep.

1 ounce (2 tablespoons) witch hazel or vodka

10 drops lavender essential oil

3 ounces (6 tablespoons) water

Dry Brush

Speaking of soft skin, rubbing your body with this bristly dry brush before a shower is a must for your winter beauty routine. It gets rid of dead skin cells and can even help with cellulite! My routine: dry brush, shower, moisturize or use oil after my shower.

Food

Share your Favs

This year I'm going to be making food for some of my friends & family. My rosemary seeds bread, homemade peanut butter cups, pesto & cashew nacho cheese are great gifts that I know they will love.

Mushroom Coffee

& mushroom hot chocolate! What's mushroom coffee? It contains real high quality coffee beans but also has medicinal mushrooms which are great for brain function, energy, immune function and are great adaptogens. I find the mushroom coffee doesn't give me the same jittery effect normal coffee does but you do get energy and focus. If coffee's not your thing this company also has superfood blends you can add ot smoothies!

Collagen & Gelatin

We use these everyday in my house. They're a fantastic, easily digestible protein source. The gelatin powder in the green tub also changes texture when it cools off so it's great to make coffee creamy, make homemade gummies or thicken soups, stews and sauces. The blue tub is the better choice if you're wanting to add it to smoothies.

Primal Kitchen

This brand is new to me and I discovered it while doing my ketogenic diet experiment. They use really good quality oils & ingredients in their salad dressings and mayo and they're all delicious! I'll be stuffing these in some stockings this year (if you're reading this act surprised mom!) If you're in Thunder Bay they have some of these at Kelly's Nutrition

Coconut Oil Creations

I love blending some of this mocha coconut oil into my coffee and the chai is great on oatmeal!

MCT Oil Powder

You know how I'm always talking about using healthy fats? This is one of them! MCT (medium chain triglycerides) are a type of fat that's used readily for energy and not stored easily as fat. It helps keep you full and supports healthy hormones.

Gadjets & Knick Knacks

Veggie Bullet

I recently received one of these last month and am obsessed. I had stopped making zucchini noodles because it was just too much work and cleaning my spiralizer was a pain. This electronic spiralizer turns zucchinis (and squash and more) into noodles in seconds. You can also use it chop and shred other veggies.

Glass Coffee Maker

Sometime I think I like the ritual of coffee making as much as I like drinking coffee. With pretty glass coffee makers like this who could blame me!? Add some coffee filters and a needle nose kettle and you'll make any cofee

BonaVita Kettle

Speaking of kettles.. I recently invested (yes, invested) in the BonaVita Kettle. I love this one because the thin spout is great for pour over coffee BUT for tea lovers you can set the temperature so you don't have to wait 15 minutes for your tea to cool!

The Vitamix.

The splurge. Last year my boyfriend and his siblings went in on one for his parents. These are pricey but so worth it. Your smoothies, sauces, soups, blended coffees will never be the same!

Blue Light Blocking Glasses

While you might not look the coolest wearing these, you'll look beautiful in the morning from being so well rested! The blue light from out TVs, phones & computer screens suppressed melatonin (sleep hormone) production and causes poor sleep quality. Wearing glasses like these blocks the blue rays.

Sunrise Alarm

If you're like me, getting out of bed when it's pitch black out is not easy. A sunrise alarm clock simulates a sunrise and gradually gets brighter and brighter until you wake up. This one is at the top of my wish list this year!

Water Bottle

If you're a client or friend of mine you'll recognize this bottle, I always have it with me and it's my third one from this brand. I LOVE this water bottle and always have it with me (this one is pure hydration). The number one answer I hear when I ask clients how much water they drink is "not enough." It sounds silly but find a water bottle you LOVE and keep it with you at all times.

The Gift of Experiences

Screen Shot 2017-11-24 at 9.35.42 PM.png

A Class

Rather than buy your friend more soap or a candle, why not sign you both up for an activity you can do together. This year I'm hoping to do a pottery class and would like to learn to rock climb at a new gym in town! Spend your money on experiences, not stuff (but the stuff above is pretty cool too.. ) I've also done acro yoga classes and aerial silks classes which were incredible. See what's available in your area!

Float Tank

Know somebody that needs to slow down and relax? A float tank is a great place to do it. I've gone a few times now and it wasn't claustrophobic at all and was a nice way to force me to relax.

Paint Night

I've been wanting to do one of these classes for ages (and still haven't). Drink some wine, learn to pain, perfect! This would make a great gift for your mom, friends or partner.

Giant Knit Blanket!

I've wanted one of these for ages! I love being wrapped up in warm blankets, with a hot chocolate in front of a fire (or the channel that shows a fireplace). This is definitely on my wish list!

Plants!

Plants are my favourite type of decor and I love having them in every room.

Books

Keto Cookbook

The Keto Diet book was my bible while I did keto. I love Leanne's take on keto, she includes lots of whole healthy foods making this a sustainable way of eating, rather than a bacon & butter diet.

Slow-Down-Book-Cover.jpg

The Slow Down Diet

This really isn't a diet book but is an important read for anyone who has been on the diet train or is struggling with emotional eating or a tumultuous relationship with food. I highgly recommend.

The Art of Happiness

This is one of my favourite books of all time.

Psychiatrist Howard Cutler interviews the Dalai Lama during an extended period of interviews.

If you've never heard the Dalai Lama speak before he manages to be funny and acessible but also deep and insightful.

I've spent some time in Dharamshala, India where the Dalai Lama lives in exile from his home country of Tibet. It's fascinating and heartbreaking, and the book is also joyful and inspiring.

Bonus: My Gift Wrap Go To

I used to spend A LOT of gift wrap and have a new trick.. I buy a huge roll of kraft paper that lasts me years for about $30! Last year I went to Michael's and bought a garland with pinecones, berries and greens and cut it apart to add to my gifts with some twine.

Cheap and beautiful!
